For anyone following this bug, Steven Toth worked on adding support for the hvr 2255 a few months ago in the upstream 'media' tree. The support also did land in the main kernel tree during the merge window for 4.2. Happy to see this hardware supported at this time and will wait patiently for it to show up in debian with the release of linux 4.2!
