The setup scripts included setup /etc/modutils/ with an ltmodem alias file to handle this. Tip for young players: you need to make sure the SMP (Symmetric Multiple Processors aka SMP) is *NOT* set in your kernel, which it shouldn't be in the standard packages, to be able to compile it. The module when compiled works very well.
