I was never able to fix this either. I fixed it by having dhcpcd started when the card was inserted rather than at boot time, and the startup script for it kills off any old dhcpcd's that are still hanging around. It's supposed to be a daemon, but what I have observed is that it doesn't really work except when initially started up.
