the wireless does not work. The wireless device is not even detected.
AFAICT, your laptop model contains an Atheros 802.11n PCI-E chipset (168C:002A)
[1]. Support for these chipsets was not included in mainline kernels until
2.6.27-rc3. The kernel supplied in Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 is 2.6.26.
How do I go about fixing.
You are required to install and use a later kernel version for support of your
wireless LAN device. See http://wiki.debian.org/ath9k for further information.

You can get a backported kernel for Lenny that should support your
hardware - see http://backports.org
http://packages.debian.org/lenny-backports/linux-image-2.6-686 (assumes
i386).
