Package: live-task-recommended Version: 0.7 Severity: wishlist The Debian Live images are missing the firmware-ath9k-htc package, which provides free firmware for AR9271 and AR7010 chips from Atheros, which are used in serveral USB WiFi adaptors, especially several that are certified as Respects Your Freedom (RYF) by the Free Software Foundation (FSF). It would be nice for Debian live images to support these FSF RYF certified devices out of the box in Debian live images (at a cost of 164k extra data).
I don't know if it is possible to update the buster live images at the next point release, but if so, please do that too. https://wiki.debian.org/ath9k_htc https://wiki.debian.org/ath9k_htc/open_firmware https://github.com/qca/open-ath9k-htc-firmware https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Atheros_AR9271 https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Atheros_AR7010 https://www.fsf.org/resources/hw/endorsement/respects-your-freedom -- System Information: Debian Release: bullseye/sid APT prefers testing-debug APT policy: (900, 'testing-debug'), (900, 'testing'), (800, 'unstable-debug'), (800, 'unstable'), (790, 'buildd-unstable'), (700, 'experimental-debug'), (700, 'experimental'), (690, 'buildd-experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.19.0-5-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_FIRMWARE_WORKAROUND, TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_AU.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_AU.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages live-task-recommended depends on: ii task-english 3.53 ii task-laptop 3.53 Versions of packages live-task-recommended recommends: ii dbus 1.12.16-1 ii dkms 2.7.1-2 ii file 1:5.37-5 ii firmware-linux-free 3.4 ii haveged 1.9.1-8 ii iputils-ping 3:20180629-2 ii less 487-0.1+b1 ii lsof 4.91+dfsg-1+b1 pn netutils <none> ii openssh-client 1:8.0p1-4 ii time 1.7-25.1+b1 live-task-recommended suggests no packages. -- bye, pabs https://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise
