Dear MUMmer developers,

MUMmer is packaged for the Debian operating system since 2007, and the version
we distribute includes a patch for dynamic memory allocation that was submitted
to the SourceForge tracker:

https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=1215086&group_id=133157&atid=726404

We would like to know your opinion of this patch. If not applied, MUMmer
crashes on machines that have less than 512 Mo of memory, which is less an
issue now, but contradicts Debian's goals of being usable on a broad range of
hardwares. Also, it may create the conditions for a buffer overflow.

Best regards,
