I'm new to the list and I'd like to make Debian packages. I read this
mail and the question follows...

| Yes -- why? debstd (debmake) is only used by packages with MIA
| maintainers[1]. No new packages are being created using debstd, and
| none have been for years.

If debmake is out-of-date, what are the best tools used today to make
a package?
