I have valid E-Mail addresses that do not contain my surname. ;-) However, it was indeed an oversight to not mark the changed file properly as required by the license. I will try to build a new version soon, and since I by now know more about the internals of Type1 fonts, I might even be able to build a better version. Note that my bug fix did not alter the metrics, hence tha .afm and .pfm files are unchanged. > --- /tmp/a 2006-05-26 15:50:56.000000000 +0200 > +++ /tmp/b 2006-05-26 15:55:55.000000000 +0200 > @@ -1,6 +1,8 @@ > -Description: scalable PostScript font from the Garamond family > +Description: scalable PostScript fonts from the Garamond family > The URW Garamond No. 8 font family is URW's version of the Garamond One comment that might be usefull for the type aficionados: There are many versions of 'Garamond', including several from URW. URW Garamond No. 8 is /not/ what is normally known as 'URW Garamond', which is a font with way to large x-height similar to ITC Garamond. On the contrary, URW Garamond No. 8 is very similar to the Garamond version introduced by the Stempel foundry in 1924. 'Stempel Garamond' as sold by Adobe or Linotype is not as tightly tracked, but the outlines are almost the same. One could use something like this: The URW Garamond No. 8 font family is URW's digitization of the Garamond version introduced by the Stempel foundry. ... > 6.2. Defoma and especially fontconfig integration are really tricky for this font since the 'bold' weight is called 'medium'. Several applications seem to get confused by this. I don't know if it is possible to influence the created fonts.cache-1 files. > 14. The "dh_installdirs $(X11DST)" is feeling lonely.
