The BTS is aware of versions, and as long as all relevant changelog entries
are kept as packages branch, it knows which version derives from which
version.

It will mark the bug fixed in unstable, and leave it unfixed in stable.

Jonathan, exactly why are you asking Bart to remove that "closes" in the
changelog?
