Are you saying this in general or are you specifically talking about tinysvm?
Are there any benefits in implementing DEP-8 tests replacing tests in the 
upstream build system? (I just quickly read the "current specification" 
document linked by
http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep8/) Or are they intended to be run during 
installation (I did not get the meaning of "as-installed").
