yes, you have to sign them.
By default the key is searched with a match on the debian/changelog last entry.
You can override it by exporting
export DEBEMAIL='youremail'
export DEBFULLNAME='name surname'
export DEBSIGN_KEYID='key fingerprint'
export DEB_SIGN_KEYID='key fingerprint'
debsign doesn't pay attention to any of these environment variables.
To specify key ID for debsign, you should put DEBSIGN_KEYID in the
configuration file ~/.devscripts.
