That's good news.  I'll try and upgrade to etch again in the next couple of

I've just checked my 2700 (*without* the serial card fitted) and it 
boots up and I can log in with SSH. It was upgraded from Sarge and is 
using the 2.6.18-5-r5k-cobalt kernel, so it really looks like the 
kernel's okay ...
