However, I mounted the rootfs with the 'nolock' option and all is well again. It's fortunate that the rootfs is mounted readonly, for I certainly wouldn't like to have mounted a rw export without locking! :/ What's interesting is that I /did/ find a 'Setup_err.txt' in the user's homedir after all... It just says that it can't open registry file <fullpath>/types.rdb even though that path and file exists and is world readable :/ So, not a desirable solution, but a solution nonetheless ...
