It stops working after ifup eth0 again. I have no trouble with my normal IP (found out about this at a friends house!) in the 192.168.1.x range. Durging and reinstalling the debs (including *all* config files for the user!) did not change a thing. This one really baffles me, maybe you'll manage to figure it out!
