I didn't try the CVS snapshot yet, but I made a very interesting observation. In preparation of the CVS snapshot test, I installed openoffice.org in a sid changeroot on the same box. When I invoke oopadmin in the sid chroot, the printer capabilities (number of trays) show fine. Oopadmin in the base system (sid as well), shows the bug. This is reproducible. I have published straces of both oopadmin runs on http://q.bofh.de/~mh/stuff in chroot.gz and basesystem.gz. The most prominent difference is that the base system oopadmin has read /usr/lib/gconv/gconv-modules while the chroot oopadmin didn't do that. Does that information help, and do you still want me to try with the snapshot? I'd prefer to do the snapshot experiments in the chroot without endangering the base system.
