Oh, wow! I thought I was the only person in the world experiencing this problem. Every day that I sit down to use OpenOffice this happens to me. Granted I am using it for more than 8 hours at a time, but I can almost set my watch by this problem. It completely disrupts my entire session because I have to kill Xorg and log back in. You are correct in saying that this bug is so critical that I am sitting here asking myself if I should be using VMWare to use MS Office (if you know me, you know that is just ludicrous). I have searched the logs and I can find absolutely no indication of any errors. I am using the latest OpenOffice.org packaged for Ubuntu 7.10. Please, for the love of Linux and the open source world, see that this problem is expunged, extracted, and otherwise expelled from the Linux desktop.
