Does anyone have an explanation as to why this has started to happen? Should I report this as a bug?

Recently, when I try to open a password protected document the focus goes to one
window, a blank openoffice screen, and the box requesting the password opens in
a different one or on the desktop. I use Gnome with Debian testing.
