Duh, but still a bug in openoffice:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ set | grep MALLOC
MALLOC_PERTURB_=11854
If I unset MALLOC_PERTURB_, openoffice behaves fine. So it seems
ooqstart is using uninitialized memory somewhere (and I completely
forgot I had this env variable set).
