First of all, I am wildly impressed to get an answer from you! One gets the pop-up "The filename "xxx.doc indicates that this file is of the type "Word Document". The contents of the file indicate......." When I choose Open Office to open it, the document is then blank, and the style drop-down box indicates "preformatted text" This leads mean to suspect the mime type issue, but I am not a hacker.
