Interesting. Yes, that's exactly it: for example I see

I agree with you that it would not be right for libreoffice to clean
up this stuff, so probably the best we can do is to add a note to
mutt's README.Debian warning about the issue.

Once tracked it down to there he did (by removing .mailcap), of
