I have just tried using Window -> Freeze and the cursor indicating the
current cell vanished. This happened consistently: unfreezing made it
reappear, refreezing made it vanish. However, quitting OOo and
restarting made the problem go away, so it is transient. Can't really
provide much more info, I'm afraid.
