Package: openoffice.org-base
Version: 1:3.2.0-4
Severity: normal
OpenOffice crashes when trying to access the evolocal.odb from within
some document or via the address data source wizard
How to reproduce:
The openoffice.org-evolution (3.2.0-4 ) package needs to be installed.
Under an account with no .openoffice.org directory yet, start ooffice.
(I've moved away any older .openoffice* directories as well.)
A fresh .openoffice.org directory will be created with an empty
.openoffice.org/3/user/database/evolocal.odb database.
Crash Scenario 1:
Start the "File->Wizards->Address Data Source" wizard. Select "Evolution"
external address book type. Click "Next>>", ooffice will crash.
Crash Scenario 2:
Create a new empty text document, hit F4-Key. In the database region,
open EvolutionLocal. Then, double-click the "Tables"-entry under
EvolutionLocal, ooffice crashes (trying to open "Tables" by expanding
the "+" symbol behaves identically).
Error messages (same in both cases, all with same process number):
GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **:
/build/buildd-glib2.0_2.24.0-1-i386-o5zIuQ/glib2.0-2.24.0/gobject/gtype.c:2706:
You forgot to call g_type_init()
GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_new: assertion `G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT
(object_type)' failed
GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_ref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
Additional info:
I do only have remote access to the Debian/Squeeze machine in question.
I've tried different ways (ssh'ing into the machine, getting a remote
desktop via Xephyr (trying KDE as well as twm) and setting different LANG
env vars (de_DE.ISO-8859-1, en_US)) remotely, all to no avail. The same error
shows up each time. Setting LC_CTYPE=en_US also doesn't make any difference.
Locally, I'm running Debian/Lenny 5.0.4 with KDE 3.5 (in case that's
relevant).
I'm not entirely sure whether this is an openoffice.org-base bug really
since there's no clue in the error messages and ooffice does not seem to
provide a --verbose or --debug switch.
'strace ooffice' does not give me a hint, either. However, I'll gladly
provide an strace log if required.
