Greetings, I'm having problems in the Debian installation. I can partition my HDD, install the operating system kernel and modules, but when I get to Install the Base system, I get the following errors:
Failure trying to run: mount -t proc proc /proc press continue: debootstrap exited with an error (return value 1) I'm using boot-floppies 3.0.7 on an iBook2 (dual USB). I'm using the local mirror (network) to install Debian. To boot into the installation I copied the install\powermac\* files off the Woody install iso I made (from my local mirror) onto my Apple_HFS partition. I then boot from OF using: boot hd:\install\powermac\yaboot at the prompt I enter: debian video=ofonly Perhaps I'm missing something here as I am not fully aware of what goes on during the install process. This is the only way I've been able to boot into the install. Everything works perfectly (no errors) up until I get to "Install the Base System". Usually, on an i386, I would switch to another terminal to view the logs. I cannot do this with my iBook for some reason. I have tried every key combination yet I cannot switch to another terminal. Is there something I'm missing? I'm pretty much out of ideas on this one. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. -- Brendon Colby Systems Administrator Midcontinent Communications
