I am running a G5 with debian ... which I keep up to date. Today when
I attempted to scan a document ... I discovered that xsane could not
find my scanner ... a canoscan N 650U usb scanner.

THis works ,,, or rather has worked before.

1. The cable is also used from time to time for my printer ... so I
know it works.

2. The command 'lsusb' shows the scanner correctly on my machine.

3. Alternative software - I tried 'kooka' for my machine .... with an
identical result.

4. Today I reinstalled both xsane and kooka ... with no change to the
problem.

Any comments anyone??
