Dear Maintainer, *** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? I use debian testing/unstable. Recently, I noticed that when I wanted to add or modify a printer on the localhost:631 interface, my computer froze. The system doesn't have time to write anything to the logs. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Following the crashes, I launched Linux in recovery mode. If I run the lpinfo -v command, the kernel crashes. However, this time information appears in the console: the intel_ipu6 module is the cause of the crash (!!). I think it's linked to cups interrogating the serial port and communicating directly with this module (maybe the bug is linked to intel_ipu6?). Following this, I performed the following actions to test: rmmod -f intel_ipu6_isys rmmod -f intel_ipu6 cups no longer crashes after this * What was the outcome of this action? kernel crash * What outcome did you expect instead? list of printers *** End of the template - remove these template lines *** -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.12-rc6-amd64 (SMP w/12 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_FORCED_RMMOD Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages cups depends on: ii cups-client 2.4.10-2 ii cups-common 2.4.10-2 ii cups-core-drivers 2.4.10-2 ii cups-daemon 2.4.10-2 ii cups-filters 1.28.17-5 ii cups-ppdc 2.4.10-2 ii cups-server-common 2.4.10-2 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.87 ii ghostscript 10.04.0~dfsg-1 ii libavahi-client3 0.8-13+b3 ii libavahi-common3 0.8-13+b3 ii libc6 2.40-3 ii libcups2t64 2.4.10-2 ii libgcc-s1 14.2.0-8 ii libstdc++6 14.2.0-8 ii libusb-1.0-0 2:1.0.27-1+b1 ii poppler-utils 24.08.0-3 ii procps 2:4.0.4-6 Versions of packages cups recommends: ii avahi-daemon 0.8-13+b3 ii colord 1.4.7-1+b2 Versions of packages cups suggests: pn cups-bsd <none> pn cups-pdf <none> pn foomatic-db-compressed-ppds | foomatic-db <none> ii smbclient 2:4.21.1+dfsg-2 ii udev 257~rc1-4 -- debconf information: cupsys/raw-print: true cupsys/backend: lpd, socket, usb, snmp, dnssd
