Depending on Python 2.3 when a package works fine with 2.1 and 2.2 as well is not a good solution in my opinion. It prevents, for example, being able to use the package on woody, even if it is uploaded only into stable. (This happens to be the case with my package.) I don't have better suggestions at the moment, though. -- Debian developers for gentleness.
