Package: timidity-patches Version: 0.2-1.2 Severity: important Compare for yourself. Here is http://school.ioffe.ru/~rutsky/eee/a.mid (49038 bytes)*, and here http://school.ioffe.ru/~rutsky/eee/serious_lion.mp3 (4974132 bytes, I think something about 800K will be enough for comparison if you do not want to downlad the entire file) is exactly (neglecting the MP3 compression losses) what I got from timidity with this midi file (I had only lowered it by half tone because it is arrangement for my song which was intended to be in D major), with defaultplayback settings (except for the pitch shift) compressed by LAME. I had been using timidity from Debian 2.2 stable release at the time, and it sounded perfectly. Damn, it was the BEST performance of what I got with any software MIDI players I've tried (standard media player that comes with Microsoft Windows [tm] Millenium Edition gave just a funny noise, and Yamaha OPL3 FM synthesizer built in my soundcard definitely sucks).
Now I'm strongly disappointed with the latest changes...
