Subject: x-ttcidfont-conf: unclear message during configuration
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
X-Mailer: bug 3.3.10

Package: x-ttcidfont-conf
Version: 13
Severity: normal

During configuration, the sysadmin gets this message:

Description: FontPath of TrueType and CID managed by defoma is changed
TrueType and CID font paths which defoma manages are changed again. It now
   becomes:
   .
     FontPath "/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/CID"
     FontPath "/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/TrueType"
   .
   Please edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4, /etc/X11/fs/config and/or
   /etc/X11/fs-xtt/config.

This left me with two questions:

What configuration item(s) do I edit? I found nothing mentioning
either TrueType or defoma in either XF86Config-4 or
/etc/X11/fs/config. I decided to ignore the part about "managed by
defoma" - i.e. this must not be a defoma-specific configuration issue.
Therefore, I added the above two lines to the "Files" section of
XF86Config-4, and added the two directories to the "catalogue" path in
/etc/X11/fs/config. (I don't have /etc/X11/fs-xtt/config on this
system. I wonder how I'll remember to edit this file if I ever
install xfs-xtt.)

What paths, if any, should I remove from any of the config files? I
see /etc/X11/fs/config mentions /usr/lib/X11/fonts/CID, which is
empty. However, there are several other nonexistent or empty font
directories mentioned in both files.

I would appreciate a clearer message, maybe something like this:

Description: FontPath of TrueType and CID managed by defoma is changed
TrueType and CID font paths which defoma manages have changed
again. Please add these entries to the "Files" section of
 /etc/X11/XF86Config-4:
 .
   FontPath "/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/CID"
   FontPath "/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/TrueType"
 .
Also add these two directories to the "catalogue" path lists in
 /etc/X11/fs/config and/or /etc/X11/fs-xtt/config, and delete any
mention of /usr/lib/X11/fonts/CID in any of these files.
