Subject: jslaunch: should use the kernel joystick driver
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII
Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Package: jslaunch
Version: 2.0-4
Severity: wishlist
jslaunch currently bypasses the kernel joystick driver and goes to the
bare material. This may be exiting from a programmers' point of view, but
it sucks if your particular hardware doesn't look like the hardware the
original programmer has.
There's more in this world than ns558 and 4-button joysticks. I have a
Wingman Gamepad with 11 buttons (of which only 10 can be used, but let's
not go into details) and both a USB and a "normal" gameport interface.
On one of my two systems, I have a USB port but no gameport. So no
jslaunch.
On the other one (which is a lot older) there is no USB port, only a
Soundblaster PCI 64 which has a gameport, but with an entirely different
software interface.
There's a reason for a kernel driver.
