Package: aiccu Version: 20070115-11 Severity: serious The config script of the package uses the aiccu tool itself to create a list of tunnel providers and even tries to connect the tunnel providers during config stage.
This is a policy violation, because policy 3.9.1 states: "The config script might be run before the preinst script, and before the package is unpacked or any of its dependencies or pre-dependencies are satisfied. Therefore it must work using only the tools present in essential packages." As the package might get unpacked _after_ running the script, it simply cannot depend on itself to be around at that point. -Patrick -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.31-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages aiccu depends on: ii cdebconf [debconf-2.0] 0.145 Debian Configuration Management Sy ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.28 Debian configuration management sy ii iproute 20090324-1 networking and traffic control too ii iputils-ping 3:20071127-2 Tools to test the reachability of ii iputils-tracepath 3:20071127-2 Tools to trace the network path to ii libc6 2.10.2-2 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgnutls26 2.8.5-2 the GNU TLS library - runtime libr ii lsb-base 3.2-23 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii ucf 3.0025 Update Configuration File: preserv Versions of packages aiccu recommends: ii ntp 1:4.2.4p7+dfsg-4 Network Time Protocol daemon and u ii ntpdate 1:4.2.4p7+dfsg-4 client for setting system time fro aiccu suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qa-packages-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
