The latest entry in the /usr/share/doc/open-vm-tools-dkms/changelog.Debian.gz
file says:
open-vm-tools (2:9.2.3-1031360-6) unstable; urgency=low
* Correcting syntax of file entries in copyright.
* Adding section override for open-vm-tools-dkms.
* Enforcing build with gcc 4.7 for the time being.
* Orphaning package.

Does that last entry, "Orphaning package", mean that open-vm-tools no longer
has a maintainer and so has no one to fix this bug?
The 3.10 kernel and open-vm-tools-dkms have both gone into testing now, and
testing no longer has the 3.9 kernel.
