Unable to remove unwanted KDE components.  For example, kdat, kdegames, etc.
Isn't there some way to relax the dependancies so that components can be
optional?

The kde package is a metapackage that depends on the whole of KDE.  If
you want to remove some of the kde packages, then you also need to
remove the kde metapackage.  This will not remove any other kde
components, no worries there.
