Removing kmilo causes deinstallation of major part of kde. Manual removal of the kmilo files causes no apparent disfunctionallity of the rest of kde. Including acpi=off (pci=noacpi or similar) as kernel parameters causes no effect. TO RESOLVE remove kmilo from list of packages kde depends on, so that kmilo could be installed/deinstalled independently without causing problems with other kde dependencies. *** -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.20-emp_2420p6a0328sis Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages kmilo depends on: ii kdelibs4 4:3.2.3-2 KDE core libraries ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.16-6 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-16 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfam0c102 2.7.0-5 client library to control the FAM ii libgcc1 1:3.4.1-4sarge1 GCC support library ii libice6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libpng12-0 1.2.5.0-7 PNG library - runtime ii libqt3c102-mt 3:3.2.3-4 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libsm6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System Session Management ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.4-6sarge1.2 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxrender1 0.8.3-7 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxtst6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System event recording an ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System client libraries m ii zlib1g 1:1.2.1.1-7 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information --------------------------------------- Received: (at 272140-done) by bugs.debian.org; 22 Dec 2004 00:08:32 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Dec 21 16:08:32 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from 84-120-66-96.onocable.ono.com (chistera.yi.org) [84.120.66.96] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1Cgu3L-0007cg-00; Tue, 21 Dec 2004 16:08:32 -0800 Received: from userid 1000 by chistera.yi.org with local (Exim 4.34) id 1Cgu3K-00085k-IW for [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Wed, 22 Dec 2004 01:08:30 +0100 Date: Wed, 22 Dec 2004 01:08:30 +0100 From: Adeodato =?iso-8859-1?Q?Sim=F3?= <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#272140: request to remove kmilo from the list of kde dependencies Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> X-No-CC: Please respect my Mail-Followup-To header User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.6+20040907i Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-4.8 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,FROM_ENDS_IN_NUMS, HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 X-Spam-Level: all this explanation by Riku grants a -done. * Riku Voipio [Sun, 19 Sep 2004 14:53:18 +0300]: > tags 272140 +upstream > tags 272140 +wontfix > severity 272140 wishlist > thanks > > FINDINGS > > kmilo is listed as one of the packages kde depends on. > > Removing kmilo causes deinstallation of major part of kde. > It deinstalls only itself and kde/kdeutils metapackage. > there is no functionality in kde/kdeutils packages, they are > simply a convinience to get ALL of kde/kdeutils installed > easily. > > TO RESOLVE > > remove kmilo from list of packages kde depends on, > > so that kmilo could be installed/deinstalled independently > > without causing problems with other kde dependencies. > kmilo is disabled by default, so if you have problems after > enabling it, you can just re-disable it and it should't > cause any problems again. -- Adeodato Simó EM: asp16 [ykwim] alu.ua.es | PK: DA6AE621 Listening to: Manitoba - Crayon Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud: after a while, you realize the pig is enjoying it.
