Some searching (and testing with a blank .kde) led me to the faulty package: kwifimanager. For some reason, as soon as I include the applett in kicker, it crashes. I've temporarily removed the kwifimanager package to be able to use KDE, but I'm pretty stumped - it worked perfectly yesterday, the only thing I've done since is remove -dev packages... The backtrace is useless. Anyone any pointer? To follow up on myself, this is caused by the upgrade of libiw28. Downgrading to libiw28-27+28pre8-1 solves the problem again. (For other packagers: latest version of libiw28 drops the _GLOBAL_OFFSET_TABLE_ symbol; I don't know very well what causes this, but a simple rebuild will fix.
