Package: kde-config-screenlocker Version: 5.27.5-2 Severity: normal X-Debbugs-Cc: [email protected]
Dear Maintainer, When attempting to unlock the screen after it locks automatically or manually, KDE displays the following message: "The screen locker is broken and unlocking is not possible anymore. In order to unlock it, switch to a virtual terminal (e.g. Ctrl+Alt+F2), log in to your account and execute the command: loginctl unlock-session 3" This issue happens repeatedly, requiring manual intervention to regain access. Steps to Reproduce Log in to a KDE Plasma session. Allow the system to lock automatically or manually trigger lock (Ctrl + Alt + L). Attempt to unlock. Error message appears instead of the password prompt. Expected Behavior The lock screen should prompt for a password and unlock normally. Actual Behavior The lock screen fails. KDE shows the message: "The screen locker is broken and unlocking is not possible anymore..." The only workaround is switching to a TTY, running loginctl unlock-session <n>, and returning to the GUI. Additional Details Affected Package: kde-config-screenlocker Current Version: 5.27.5-2 Newer Version Available: 6.3.5-1 (Debian Testing / Unstable) Issue still occurs consistently on 5.27.5-2. No custom lock screen settings or third-party themes have been applied. Workarounds Tried Unlocking manually via loginctl unlock-session works, but only temporarily. Updating the system to the latest stable packages did not resolve the problem. Did not test on the newer 6.3.5-1 build yet. please confirm that this bug is already resolved in 6.3.5-1 -- System Information: Debian Release: 12.11 APT prefers oldstable-updates APT policy: (500, 'oldstable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable-security'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 6.8.12-1-liquorix-amd64 (SMP w/12 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_PROPRIETARY_MODULE, TAINT_OOT_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages kde-config-screenlocker depends on: ii kpackagetool5 5.103.0-1 ii libc6 2.36-9+deb12u10 ii libkf5configcore5 5.103.0-2 ii libkf5configgui5 5.103.0-2 ii libkf5configqml5 5.103.0-2 ii libkf5coreaddons5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5globalaccel-bin 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5globalaccel5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5i18n5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5kcmutils5 5.103.0-3 ii libkf5package5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5quickaddons5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5xmlgui5 5.103.0-1 ii libkscreenlocker5 5.27.5-2 ii libqt5core5a 5.15.8+dfsg-11+deb12u3 ii libqt5dbus5 5.15.8+dfsg-11+deb12u3 ii libqt5gui5 5.15.8+dfsg-11+deb12u3 ii libqt5qml5 5.15.8+dfsg-3 ii libqt5widgets5 5.15.8+dfsg-11+deb12u3 ii libstdc++6 12.2.0-14+deb12u1 ii perl 5.36.0-7+deb12u2 ii systemsettings 4:5.27.5-2 kde-config-screenlocker recommends no packages. kde-config-screenlocker suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
