This bug turned out to be in qt-base, where QProcessEnvironment has data race when multiple (lazy) copies of one QProcessEnvironment object are used in parallel. There are two approaches to fix this. Which one should be used is still in discussion. This bug is introduced since 5.14, so the same bug exists in Qt5.
