Subject: kpilotDaemon hangs when "usb:" is used as handheld device Package: kpilot Version: 4:3.5.5.dfsg.1-6 Severity: critical Justification: breaks unrelated software
*** Please type your report below this line *** When kpilotDaemon is run having configured "usb:" as the handheld device (instead of /dev/ttyUSB0 or similar), kpilotDaemon hangs on a nanosleep call. This causes: - kpilotDaemon icon in system tray appear transparent (totally empty square) - KPilot stop with progress bar indicating 10% of sync (if kpilotDaemon is launched by kdeinit) - KPilot hang if kpilotDaemon was not previously launched and KPilot has to launch it And the "critical" issue: - Any other program which tries to contact kpilotDaemon hangs. For example: kdcop I can send straces or anything else you ask for. The only reason why I filed this bug critical is that it can make other packages hang, but I don't consider it a critical issue as I have not found any other program, apart from kdcop, hanging. Perhaps severity can be lowered, I don't know Debian policies about this type of bugs.
