Hi! It is also worth mentioning, that the current state of qt5-multimedia does not allow decoding H.264 videos using the Qml Video element.
The package needs gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg to successfully play h.264 videos from Qt applications. qstreamer0.10-ffmpeg is no longer available in jessie or sid. One has to import oldstable into sources.list and set appropriate pinnings to allow installing this package. I think this is related to the mentioned request to use gstreamer1.0. I noticed there is a gstreamer1.0-libav package, but it does not allow for h.264 playback in Qt.
