Hi,

Now that we are very close to the releaase of stretch, we should
probably start thinking about what's next.

We are now more or less 6 months from the release of Ruby 2.5, and I was
thinking whether it makes sense for us to transition to Ruby 2.4 and
then transition again to Ruby 2.5.

In general, I think we could do with
a single Ruby transition per Debian cycle ... I can think of the following
advantages:

- we have a chance of providing upstream with feedback about the version
of Ruby that we will ship in Debian before that version is released

- we will only need to handle all of the small issues that a transition
  entails once (instead of twice)

Can anyone think of a good reason to not go straight to 2.5, starting
ASAP after the release with a pre-release ruby2.5?

Happy stretching,
