Hi,We have been using gem install in postinst for ruby gem dependencies that are not matching with versions in archive more easily (so ruby packages are now like a soft dependency and best effort basis and not as strict like earlier).
So we could drop more of ruby packages only needed by gitlab that is in bad shape or not active upstream, blocking transitions etc Generally native gem dependencies are still good to be packaged since it'd otherwise need build tools / development packages to be installed on the target.
But I'd like to fix https://github.com/rubygems/rubygems/issues/6705 before we do it more proactively. Any help with this is welcome.
This would help not having to manually resolve the missing dependencies and let bundler make that decision (to use packages from archive when available and install from rubygems.org when missing).
Thanks Praveen
