Dear Patrick, I'm bemused by this one; I seem to have the same setup as you but I don't receive this warning. Is it possible that you are running spyder in some sort of virtual environment which does not have the correct dependencies? One thing you could try: select Help > About Spyder..., click "Copy version info" and paste it into a reply to this bug report; then do Help > Dependencies, click "Copy to clipboard" and paste that in as well. That may well give us more of an idea of what is happening here.
