https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=763909#36 is most probably sensible and I'd happily apply it future revisions. However, as Niels wrote below the changes are conflicting with the freeze policy. As far as I understand the clean target does not work with your patch. Do you see a chance to skip the getmachine call in the clean target which should be sufficient to work around the problem? Kind regards Andreas.
