Please try to enhance your communication: "found non free file" -
specifically if upstream is involved in the thread is close to non
information. Please add at least *what* file is non-free and negotiate
with the author what to do about this.

This information also belongs to the according bug report (in CC now).

I repeat my offer to sponsor kbibtex if you clean up the Git repository
to a layout that fits Debian Science policy. Your branches concept is
confusing and does not fit any layout I have seen in packaging
repositories. If you habe problems doing so please ask for help here.
I'd even volunteer to turn your packaging into a default layout if you
would declare what branch is your release target. Please also explain
your usage of different upstream Git commits instead just simply
sticking to the released tarball. Your work looks quite intransparent
which seems to be a blocker for keeping the package in sync with
upstream.

Kind regards

      Andreas.
