Hello Philip, I have just uploaded the package after minor modifications.
In particular I merged the new patches into the d/debianization.patch . And I added the magic line `include /usr/share/dpkg/pkg-info.mk' at the beginning of the d/rules script: this inclusion may help reproducibility. It is actually compose with pdftex . Including the dpkg material in d/rules was the missing part of the story.
That doesn't seem to work, texi2pdf seems the only option to get that pdf - though, one could just drop the pdf as the html documentation in provided as well. Best, Philip
