I'd imagine that there is a space following the .. in the second entry. Thus: ".", "..", ".. ", "MAKEDEV", . . .
The simplest way to delete the second .. should be: rm ..?* The question mark will expand to whatever character follows the .., and the * will take care of whatever follows.
