I did not see your email on the sparclinux@vger.kernel.org list--
did I miss it?   That is the best forum for SPARC32 Linux kernel
issues.

Check <linux>/arch/sparc/kernel/idprom.c and remove the prom_halt()
calls in idprom_init and display_system_type.  I can't say if this
will give you a working system but it is a good place to start. As
well, you may need to provide fallback values for those retrieved 
from the PROM.
