In my case, it doesn't boot at all.  Here's what I see:

PROMLIB: obio_ranges
bootmem_init:  Scan sp_banks, init_bootmem(spfn[8203], bpfn[8203], mlpfn[c000])

[2.4.20-pre11]
PROMLIB: obio_ranges
bootmem_init:  Scan sp_banks, init_bootmem(spfn[8208], bpfn[8208], mlpfn[c000])

After that the screen flickers once, and nothing happens until the
PROM watchdog times out.  Weird.
