if xine requires xv (it doesn't iirc) it will not work since there is no xv driver for cg14/zx/etc. i am assuming since you have a cg14, you have a ss20 or ss10. not to rain on your parade, but even if you got it to run, its not likely you would be able to view anything. there is no hardware support for doing anything (ictl / yuv <-> rgb / etc) with the framebuffer so it must all be done in software. even fast(er) machines with slower video choke on relatively small movies. unstable (at least) has sparc xine packages: $ apt-cache search xine gnome-xine - the xine video player, GNOME user interface libxine-dev - the xine video player library, development packages libxine0 - the xine video/media player library, binary files xine-dvdnav - xine DVD plugin that is capable of Menus and special features xine-ui - the xine video player, user interface xinetd - replacement for inetd with many enhancements xlibs-dev - X Window System client library development files so you can apt-get install it, and experience the pain :) john -- john wood systems administrator, gmo inc
