Try seeing if you have the latest OpenBoot firmware. I've heard
differing stories about some firmware not working correctly.

Also, it's not that hard to setup rarp/tftp on another machine for
netbooting. "apt-get install rarpd tftpd". The install docs tell you the
specifics on adding an /etc/ethers entry for rarpd and how to name the
tftpboot.img.
