It is because your question is hard. You desire to build linux from scratch. That requires understanding more options than anyone cares to list here. There is a web site all about it. http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/ Start there. Or get on with life and install debian as is, and just tinker with individual packages (apt-get source <pkg>).
